I have a 98 Mercury sable..whenever i am idol my car stalls out..i can start it back up but it's just annoying?

It sounds like you have a bad throttle position sensor. Go to autozone and have the car scanned it's free. I just experienced this problem myself with a different model mercury it was easy to change and cost less than 35.00.
