Question for members in the military...M249/M240, MOS's?

Concidering I was a 0331 in the Corps, I might know a thing or two. Even though a Machinegunner in the Marines is a seperate MOS and not a rifleman, we are always attached to rifle platoons and are a permanent component of the Rifle Companies. The M-249 is a light squad machinegun used by basic riflemen, and the M-240G (Marine designation) is the medium machinegun used at the rifle company level in the machinegun section of a rifle platoon. The machinegun squads are attached to a rifle company during any operation, so the heavy grunts are everywhere the light grunts are at all times. The Marines also have Machinegun Platoons as part of a Weapons Company at the Battalion level. Those guys specialize in the M-2 .50 Cal machinegun and the MK-19 40mm automatic grenade launcher.
