Why does everyone hate us athiests?

first off, i'm drunk. regardless, why is it that those bible thumpers constantly ridicule us? I thought (from what I got from youth group in 7th grade) that the point of christianity was to love everyone for WHO they are, not WHO they worship. From what I've gotten from this **** life we're all sentenced to, it's better to live and love people and make this toxic humanity better than it could be with positive HUMAN reinforcement. Why are christians, granted i used to be one, so caught up in lifestyles that say, "hey, i go to church every sunday and THAT makes me eligible to get into heaven!" when the truth is, no matter how many sins you don't committ, no matter how many gentiles you save, or how many demons you smite, we're all men(women) and that means we're flawed. So what's the point of all this waring religion bs? My God beats your Ala beats your Buddha. Why not just work in a soup kitchen? or play music for the homeless? or work hard at your job every day? Why is it that we atheists are such outcasts for acting kind out of our own hearts, vs. because some Deity told us to?
