How long after a coolant leak is fixed does that coolant smell stay around?

2005 GMC Sierra 5.3L 4 WD, Dex Cool ... Had coolant leak at both gaskets to the block. Leaks are gone (at least there are no more puddles) Replaced coolant pump about 10 days ago, but that coolant smell is still around. No noticeable coolant loss. Should I wash down the engine? What with?
